There is a contest on the photo hosting site Flickr, in which voters can choose from among a dozen photos the shot that best evokes Vanishing Texas. The photos are beautiful and, if you love Texas as some of us do, take a moment to visit and view.
My sister's friend has a photo in competition. Teresa lives in San Angelo and spends a lot of her free time driving back roads taking photos. Her entry is a gorgeous shot of bison, taken on a drive through the LBJ ranch last summer. She has tinkered with it to make it look like an old wet plate (collodian?) photo, with varying shades of gray and the nitrate flaking off the glass. If you have a Flickr account, may I encourage you to vote for it? Or for any of the finalists that catch your eye.
